We are so excited that Resilience Against Racism project was launched on 17 September 2020 via zoom.
We kick started the launch with a Welcome to Country from Uncle Dave Wandin who discussed the importance of respect and First Australians welcomes us all – as migrants – into their home, in Australia.
Meng Heang Tak MP, representing the Minister for Multicultural Affairs launched the project and also highlighted some of the work Victorian Government is supporting and doing (including this project).
Wesa Chau, CEO of Cultural Intelligence then talked about her story, her experience of racism and what it feels like and how her experiences during COVID-19 pushed her to start this project with co-founder Christine Yeung.
We ended the launch with a wonderful panel facilitated by Jieh-Yung Lo, Director at Center for Asian-Australian Leadership at ANU talking to James and Yiran who have experienced racism during the pandemic and what was done and how it can be helped. Christine also shared about how Resilience Against Racism can help people cope with their experiences and be confident in the future.
